Questions people ask before they book
Can you come when my parent is home alone?
Yes. I phone your parent first, agree a time that suits them, and tell them who is coming. You can be on the phone during the visit, or not.
What if I'm not sure which alarm or doorbell to buy?
Don't buy anything yet. I can bring hardware, or fit what you already have, and I explain the choice before I put anything on the wall.
Do you do emergency work?
No. I book visits in office hours. If you see flames or smell smoke, call 911. If an outlet or switch is hot, sparking or scorched, and it is safe to reach the panel, turn off that breaker, then call me.
How do I see your license?
The license line is at the bottom of every page. The state's own lookup page shows whether it is current.
Can I pay for my mother's visit?
Yes. Say so when you book. I still ask your mother's okay on the work, and I write the price down for both of you.
How long does a visit take?
Most take an hour or two. A set of alarms or a doorbell is on the short side; several jobs at once take longer. I say before I start.
Do I need to be home?
Someone should be. If you can't be, a family member or neighbor you trust can let me in, and I phone you first.
Will you move furniture?
Light things, yes. If it is heavy, I ask before I touch it.
